Our shul has three different types of memberships: Full Membership (Amuta/Building Fund), Associate Membership, and Trial Membership.
Due to space limitations, we are unfortunately no longer able to guarantee seating for everyone during the High Holidays. As a result, we are temporarily unable to accept new Amuta/Full members, which includes guaranteed High Holiday seating, until we are able to secure additional regular space. We are grateful for your understanding and continued commitment to our community, and we look forward to growing together as we work toward a long-term solution.
In the meantime, we warmly encourage everyone to join our community as Associate Members. Associate membership allows you to continue davening with us throughout the year (other than the High Holidays),, participating in our programs and shiurim, and becoming actively involved in our committees and communal life.
There are different membership fees and rights for each type of membership, and there are different rates depending on whether the member household is headed by a married couple or an individual/single parent. Membership options are summarized below:
- An Amuta/Full Member is required to commit to paying 34,000 NIS towards the upkeep of the shul building in addition to their annual membership fee. This Building Fund fee can be paid through long-term, interest-free payment arrangements, with full benefits granted immediately upon first payment. Benefits full members receive include—among other things—voting rights in our Amuta (one per head of household); eligibility to serve on the Vaad; reduced prices on membership dues, social hall rental fees and Yamim Noraim seats; and priority on reserving seats for Yamim Noraim and hall rental.
- Associate Membership is ideal for those who frequent our shul throughout the year and would like to contribute and be a part of our kehillah. This membership also offers several meaningful benefits, including the ability to reserve our social hall up to 18 months in advance and to have your lifecycle events announced through shul communication channels. This membership does not include voting benefits, and regarding the High Holidays, we currently cannot accommodate Associate Members with seating (for the same reason of space limitations mentioned above). We do our best where possible to assist independent minyanim in the community with sifrei torah and baalei tefilla, and there are various other shuls in the neighborhood that do have seating options one can explore.
- For families who arrive in our community shortly before the High Holidays, we recognize that making aliyah at this time can be especially challenging and overwhelming. We are honored to support your first chagim in Israel and to welcome you warmly into our community. To help ease this transition, KSYM is pleased to offer a Soft Landing Gift in the form of a Trial Membership. Trial Members have all the same benefits (and limitations) of Associate Members with one exception: Trial Members are eligible for Yamim Noraim seating. This membership type is offered to all interested new olim or new members to our community for their first year in the community, after which Associate Membership currently remains the only option (see above regarding temporary closure of Full membership due to space limitations).
