Rabbi Shlomo Sobol was born and raised in Jerusalem. He studied at Mercaz HaRav for ten years and was ordained a rabbi by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. The Rav also has a master's degree in Talmud from Bar Ilan University. The Rav has also completed courses in guidance and marriage counseling. In the army, he served as a fighter in the artillery.
The Rav served for four years as head of Torah MiTzion kollel in Detroit, and since 2004 serves as Rabbi of the Shaarei Yonah Menachem community. In addition to his role as the community Rabbi, the Rav co-founded and heads the Beit Midrash Barkai which is a seminar for training community rabbis.
The Rav is married to Tali, who is fully involved in community work, and they have four children.
