Dearest Kehilla,
I hope that this letter finds everyone well.
We have begun the third lockdown.
Who would have believed that within less than a year we would be locked down 3 times and that even between the lockdowns we are still not free to do as we wish…
At the same time, during this challenging period, the vast majority of our wonderful nation are rediscovering within themselves more and more emotional and spiritual powers.
This ability to take a deep breath and continue forging ahead even when the journey is long and the road strewn with obstacles is rooted deep in our Jewish DNA.
Since the beginning of time we have been a nation of dreamers and believers even in hard and challenging times, and there have been many of those.
This lockdown, contrary to the previous ones, is accompanied by great optimism, because of the vaccine which has been introduced, with the help of G-d, and because of the efforts of those who are entrusted with our health in our beloved country.
We all pray that the vaccine will be effective and will not be accompanied by negative side effects and that it will protect us from Corona and all of its different strains and mutations.
But we must not forget for a moment that
Hashem is the One who brought the Corona virus to the world, and it is He who gives the knowledge in the hearts and minds of the scientists to find and produce the vaccine.
If we internalize that Hashem’s hand can bring both the illness and the antidote then we are “vaccinating” ourselves spiritually and hopefully we will not need further reminders that G-d is the ruler of the world and that we humans are only pawns in His hand... and we will merit only good tidings, health and a serene and happy life.
