Dear Members,
The current winter weather combined with MOH Corona guidelines has forced us to find an immediate and improved solution for outside services on the pergola patio off the Social Hall downstairs.
The Building Committee has researched several options which we believe will provide both protection from the rain and a long-term benefit to our members post-Corona.
Following meetings with multiple vendors, we are bringing the following proposal to the community:
Phase 1:
Installation of a wooden pergola over the existing concrete pergola structure. On top will be hard plastic sheeting known as SunTuff BH that offers protection and sound insulation from the rain. At the edges, a gutter system will be attached and lead down towards the drain at the far corner of the uncovered patio area.
Cost: 53,000 NIS including VAT
Phase 2:
We are considering installing schacha awning panels along the open sides of the pergola following phase 1. The panels can be raised and lowered to offer additional protection from the elements. When lowered the panels will fully enclose the pergola area and will allow the heating/AC to flow in, providing additional Social Hall seating capacity for Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, events etc.
Cost: Currently gathering quotes for this phase.
Both phases of this project will be funded through the Capital Account that exists exclusively for building maintenance and improvements.
Since the cost of Phase 1 is over 40,000 NIS, it must be approved by 25% of amuta members at a General Meeting followed by a vote, as required by the takanon.
We will be holding the General Meeting on Zoom next Sunday at 8-8:45 PM at this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88337825752?pwd=QXh4MHVYeWh1ZjJhVVdBN3ZidDBsQT09
You can also vote by proxy in advance at this link:

Please note: only Amuta members (Building Fund) are eligible to vote and husband and wives have one vote each.
We appreciate your consideration of this matter, which we believe will help the short-term need for protection for outside minyanim AND set us up for the future, giving us a larger, weather-protected space for future Yamim Noraim services, Purim chagigot and the smachot that we look forward to sharing together very soon.
B'vracha,
The Vaad
