Dear Amuta,
As mentioned in the Kehilla Update sent just prior to the chagim, we have been reexamining the “first-come, first-served” policy for Yamim Noraim seating. While a fair policy at its inception, this model is becoming increasingly less ideal under the growing circumstances (and increased demand due to shul growth in general). As a result, we have been actively deliberating various alternative approaches for future years to ensure that seating priority is handled in as fair a way as possible over the long run.
We have also been soliciting suggestions from anyone who would like to submit them, and as mentioned, we would like to hold a “town hall” meeting to deliberate those suggestions in an open manner, with the intention of putting the most feasible choices to a vote at the upcoming AGM, so as to truly ensure that the voice of the membership is heard in this matter.
We have set the date for this town hall meeting as *Motzae Shabbat, November 29, at 7:00pm* in the shul downstairs.
The format will be the Vaad presenting the ideas for the various approaches that we have so far, to discuss pros and cons and gauge feedback. Anyone wishing to present their own idea is requested to please submit it in advance to vaad@ksym.org.il, by Sunday, Nov 23, and (ideally) be prepared to discuss it at the meeting. For the sake of preparedness and time management, no new suggestions will be accepted at the meeting.
We encourage all members who feel strongly about this subject to please come participate! Looking forward to seeing you there!
The Vaad
