Insights from Day 9 - תובנות מיום בתשיעי

Dear community,

Thoughts from the ninth… and last day of Quarantine.

Background:

B"H I am improving. Although my full strength has yet to return. Tomorrow, בעז״ה, I am supposed to leave quarantine and emerge into… lockdown.

When I look back at the Corona diary I wrote and shared with you, I noticed that I wrote very personal things, things that I almost never shared with the community.

In my role as a Rabbi, I am usually in a place where I answer questions, give lessons, deliver drashas, but I have almost no opportunities to tell about what is going on in my heart. My dilemmas, and my struggles.

I’m very happy that this opportunity presented itself to me, by way of isolation.

It seems to me that you now know me better, and I very much hope that it has strengthened the bond between us.

Insight:

Many times in relationships we may try and show our strengths, thinking that by doing so we will be more valued and achieve more.

But it seems to me that the truth is just the opposite. The ability to share weakness is also an important ability in life. Sharing our weaknesses will not keep people away from us. Quite the opposite. Sharing difficulties brings us closer together and creates a deep connection. It reveals that we are not perfect but we are all human beings dealing with events that life presents us with, and we all need the support and embrace of others.

It is precisely the sharing of our weak points, that opens discourse and communication, from a deeper place within our soul.

May we always be open with each other, with our spouses, our children, our parents and our friends. Doing so will bring immense Bracha to all our relationships.
